The call for workshops is now open! Please use the following link to the Google form, where you can submit your proposal. The deadline for workshop proposals is January 14, 2025, at midnight.
Mark your calendars with a bold red circle because on Thursday and Friday, June 12-13, 2025, the ‘Politicologenetmaal’ or Annual Political Science Workshops of the Low Countries will take center stage in Groningen. This exciting event is a collaboration between the Dutch Political Science Association (NKWP) and the Association for Political Science (VPW), and we are thrilled to announce that the University of Groningen will be the proud host of the upcoming edition!
The conference will be organized by the Departments of European Politics & Society and International Relations and International Organization (IRIO).
The main focus of the conference lies on thematic workshops (each with two sessions on Thursday afternoon and two on Friday morning). In each workshop, there is room for about twelve papers. The workshops can relate to a broad range of topics, going from empirical political science to political theory and from international relations to local politics. Workshops can be proposed by both academics and practitioners. The conference language is Dutch, but sessions can also be held in English, at the discretion of the chairs.
During the Etmaal, we also award two prizes:
(1) The jury of the Els Witte Annual Prize for Political Science 2025 awards the best PhD dissertation in political science (and related disciplines). The dissertation was defended in 2024 at a Belgian/Dutch university or elsewhere, but relates to Dutch or Belgian politics.
(2) Every master thesis submitted in 2024 that obtained a score of at least 8 (The Netherlands) or 16 (Belgium) is eligible for the Daniel Heinsius thesis prize.
